Mykonos Island

IMG_1467Continuing my holidays in Greece in which was last month (sorry for posting this a month later),Anyway after Spending the weekend in Spetces Island, we decided to head over to the Cyclades part of Greece and to Mykonos Island for a few days. Mykonos is a top tourist attraction, (there is also lots of gay people there ^^””) Known for its nightlife parties in which also attracts famous DJs like David Guetta for example..that was apparently performing a few days later while i was there.

The island is composed primarily of granite. It has little natural fresh water and relies on the desalination of sea water in order to meet its needs. Oh according to Wikipedia It is believed that the island was named after a local hero, who is considered an offspring of the god Apollo and was worshipped locally in antiquity…. I guess A lot of places in Greece are named after heros.

Mykonos is a fun place to go especially if you like parties etc, its very lively and the beaches are beautiful, you find a lot of american’s there ^^. While i was visiting the island i managed to get a few shots of key points of the island, for instance below youll see a picture a Pelican, At first i just thought it was a normal one, nothing special..but then realised after reading the tourist book that the actual pelican is unique! Petros the Pelican its called, An old celebrity of the town’s waterfront, “Petros” has been the official mascot of Mykonos for over 50 years! haha i was so surprised at that. I also managed to take pictures with my daughters at the famous windmills of Mykonos, apparently it is one of the most recognized landmarks of the island.

Enjoy the pictures and hopefully ill manage to wrap up all the post of my holidays as quickly as possible.

Man this place looks nice all those buildings with the balconies over the water really catch my eyes. Although I doubt I would have much fun as I am not the type of guy to go out to dance or to a party at night.

I’ve only been to Greece once stayed on a island called Paxos! It was really nice didn’t have any houses on the sea like this place but such a massive difference from the city streets of London!

Everything is so clean and white. It’s definitely a lot nicer than here.

Such narrow pathways between the buildings. But then I doubt there’s loads of folk trying to squeeze past. Also keeps you in the shade.
