Holo on the Great Wall of China

September 28, 2011 |  by  |  Project Holo

Holo and I on the Watch Tower with a section of the Great Wall Behind us
This is the beginning of our project called “Project Holo” and we couldnt be more happier to say that China is our first destination! A country with so much of history, there is a whole catalog of places to visit however we had our eyes fixed in only one place. That is the Great Wall of China!

What is the Great Wall of China?

The Great Wall of China, is one of the greatest wonders of the world, and was listed as a World Heritage by UNESCO in 1987. Just like a gigantic dragon, the Great Wall winds up and down across deserts, grasslands, mountains and plateaus, stretching approximately 8,851.8 kilometers (5,500 miles) from east to west of China. With a history of more than 2000 years, some of the sections are now in ruins or have disappeared. However, it is still one of the most appealing attractions all around the world owing to its architectural grandeur and historical significance. – travelguidechina

I have to admit im lucky that my parents accepts on who i am, but dont worry i can control myself when it comes to anything related to Anime, Figures and stuff ^^

    •

      Hey Deth!
Thank you very much for the comment im glad you like it :)

      •

Yep, I do and I'm in FULL SUPPORT of such artistic/photographic endeavours...

Its not too often that you see a animu Character, on a world travel such as this, and on a historical site as well...

        •

Wow that nice to hear this, thanks!
Ye thats what i first thought! so i thought it was actually a good idea to bring her along because this kind of thing is kinda unfimiliar.
It ended up being a great experience, will do it again!

  3.

5.5/5.0 for your gutsy attempt to bring Holo board around.
Otaku stuff can also be used to bait pretty ladies. lol.

    •

      Haha thank you!
Its all thanks to my father for getting me all worked up and encouraged to bring her.
well that was always the intention but i was a bit nervous ^^

You mean maybe holo only can attract pretty ladies =)

  4.

nice pictures you took there. really glad to see horo traveling around the world :D

  5.

Haha it seems that you both had a lovely time traveling together!

Most creative use of the Holo cardboard cutout I've seen!

  6.

    Your dad... is awesome.

    10/10

  7.

Woah dude, that's awesome! If I wasn't poor I'd travel too!

  8.

Dude, that is awesome that you had Holo with you. This could be a cool start to a something new for you both.

  9.

The wall looks amazing. I would've been too scared to bring Holo, not only because of embarressment, but because she might blow away in the wind. You have a cool dad though, my dad would've told me to bring a real girl instead.

    •

The wall looked new, well some parts i couldnt believe it how on earth these people managed to build this...
Holo is pretty solid, the wind wont really blow her away.

Well my dad did say something like that too but in the end still accepts it :3

  10.

You're so brave! I'm a bit too shy to attempt something like that. Did anyone recognise Holo?

Mm.. the Great Wall looks beautiful and I hope I get to see it some day. :)

    •

Thanks! at first i was too shy but meh end of the day look at the result =)
I think a few recognise her since they were japanese haha, but i didnt pay too much attention.

  11.

looks like a nice trip you had with such good weather, nice to see that the old wall is still well preserved even with so many tourist, who are using the steps everyday.

I don't know if I would have been more scared of people staring at me and a lifesize cardboard or about damaging the cardboard girl somehow, good that there was no rain ^^
I loved the cool encouragement from your dad, he seems very open-minded.

    •

I was expecting rainand such since the forecast where stating it, but i guess they got there research incorrect haha.

If it were to rain then she would have stayed in the car, but the chinese guy said no rain, dont worry. Ended up he was correct ^^
i did try my best to try not to damage her, she has a little dent at the bottom but its not that visible.

Im unfortunate that my dad, mum and sister are open minded!

  12.

Fabrice, you are my new hero. The moment I loaded the page my MP3 started playing Ringo Biyori ._.

Mutianyu /Mutianyi (We jokingly call it 'mutiny') was a good portion of the Great Wall. Not too steep, and long enough for sight seeing.

also, good to know your dad is approving of you and Holo's relationship. I wonder about Lawrence though....what does he have to say? ;)

    •

Hero! wow i thank you ^^
Mhmm not really the song that fits the scenery haha.
not to steep! apparently we took the hardest part of the wall.... <..>

btw im not really trying to show a relationship with holo lol, just thought to bring her along ^^

  13.

Hahaha, I find this hilarious more than anything. You got some pretty nice photos with Holo there, good job. I'd be more worried to tear her during the trip than people looking at me.

She attracted girls? I have to get me some cardboard girl now.

Kudos on getting over the shyness!

  14.

Ehhh! You dared the harmful outside with your precious Horo? I would probably end up being all paranoid about any and all harm that could befall Horo to enjoy myself.

Still, awesome pictures, this will surely make it even more memorable than just going to the Great Wall of China.

  15.

Man, I an impressed that you manage to do this, I just wish I could do the same.

  16.

Ha! Nice! Glad you shook off the shyness and ended up taking pictures of Holo. As for a girl magnet? Whatever works to attract girls I guess :P . Looks like you, Holo, your father and friend had fun.
